New Affordable Homes Coming to Northwestern Ontario
Great news for residents in Northwestern Ontario! The federal and provincial governments have teamed up to invest over $4.2 million to build 102 affordable homes in the region, providing more options for seniors and those in need.
What’s Happening?
Three exciting new housing projects are coming, thanks to funding from both levels of government. These homes will be managed by the Kenora District Services Board and will be located in Dryden and Kenora.
1. Pinewood Place – Dryden (40 Units)
- A brand-new 40-unit complex for seniors at 285 Arthur Street.
- Funding: $711,824 from the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative (COCHI) and $295,200 from the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative (OPHI).
2. Home of My Own – Kenora (6 Units)
- A supportive housing project at 400 Fourth Street North for those in need.
- Funding: Over $1.1 million from the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI3), $52,500 from the Seed Funding program, $819,378 from COCHI, and $233,142 from OPHI.
3. Kenora Supportive Seniors – Kenora (56 Units)
- A 56-unit complex at 719 Eighth Street South for seniors.
- Funding: $781,550 from COCHI and $269,400 from OPHI.
