Near 15 cm of snow expected to fall today in Toronto

Toronto and it’s surrounding areas including Halton, Peel, Niagara, Waterloo – Wellington, Kingston are under Snow fall warning. A special weather statement is in effect for areas to the north and east of the GTA. Environment Canada has predicted near 15 cm to hit Toronto and other parts of the GTA. Snow will continue through the day before ending this evening. Locally higher amounts of 20 cm are possible near the west end of Lake Ontario. The heaviest snow is most likely to fall this afternoon, resulting in a significant impact on the commute home late in the day. Motorists should allow extra time to reach their destination.
This snow event will be from yet another in a series of low pressure systems which have formed over the Southern Plains States. This latest low will pass by just to the south of Lake Erie.

For Halton region, all schools and administrative centres are closed today due to weather.
