Ontario on Sunday achieved a grim milestone after recording the highest single-day spike of 1042 coronavirus cases, as per data by Health Canada. Toronto remains the hotspot with 309 reported cases followed by Peel Region with 289 cases, followed by York Region with 117, and Ottawa with 80.

Canada has been hit with a second wave of Covid-19 with October reporting highest number of cases.
Ontario has imposed stricter measures in Toronto, Ottawa and Peel Region in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19. As of September 19, 2020, the gathering limits for events and gatherings are:
indoor: 10 people
outdoor: 25 people
Indoor and outdoor events and gatherings cannot be combined. Effective October 10, the govenment further closed indoor gyms and fitness centres, cinemas, casinos, performing arts centres and venues, personal care services where face coverings must be removed for the service, interactive exhibits or exhibits with high risk of personal contact in museums, galleries, zoos, science centres or landmarks, team sports.
