Peel Police looking for witnesses in Hate motivated incident

The Peel police are investigating an hate-motivated incident against a family in Mississauga. According to the update from the Peel Police, tt was reported that on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the victim, a 44-year-old man and his family were conducting a faith ceremony in the area of Barbertown Road and Mississauga Road in the City of Mississauga. Two males approached the family, shouted derogatory and hateful remarks assaulted the victim several times, including throwing rocks at him. The victim was able to break away and he and his family retreated to their vehicle. As the victim drove away, stones were thrown at his car, causing damage.The victim attended a local hospital for his injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening in nature. His wife and two young children did not suffer any physical injuries.

Both suspects are described as being 16 to 18 years of age with dark hair. One male is believed to be Caucasian, and the second male is believed to be Asian.

The Government of Ontario announced their plan for a COVID-19 vaccination certification system that will be a key tool to enhance public safety and keep businesses open as Ontario enters the fourth wave of the pandemic.

Beginning September 22, 2021, Ontarians will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access certain public settings and facilities.

This approach focuses on higher-risk indoor public settings where face coverings cannot always be worn and includes:

  • Restaurants and bars (excluding outdoor patios, as well as delivery and takeout);
  • Nightclubs (including outdoor areas of the establishment);
  • Meeting and event spaces, such as banquet halls and conference/convention centres;
  • Facilities used for sports and fitness activities and personal fitness training, such as gyms, fitness and recreational facilities with the exception of youth recreational sport;
  • Sporting events;
  • Casinos, bingo halls and gaming establishments;
  • Concerts, music festivals, theatres and cinemas;
  • Strip clubs, bathhouses and sex clubs;
  • Racing venues (e.g., horse racing).

These conditions do not apply to outdoor settings where risk of Covid spread is minimal or low.

Ontario is set to move to Step three on Friday, July 16, 2021. This is due to further improvement to key health indicators and a consistent decline in Covid numbers across the Province. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of our frontline heroes, and the ongoing commitment of Ontarians to get vaccinated, we have surpassed the targets we set in order to enter Step Three of our Roadmap,” said Premier Doug Ford.

25 people are allowed for Indoor social gatherings and organized public events

Real estate open houses with capacity limited to the number of people

Indoor religious services, rites or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral services permitted with physical distancing;

Outdoor social gatherings and organized public events with up to 100 people with limited exceptions;

Museums, galleries, aquariums, zoos, casinos/bingo halls, amusement parks, fairs, festivals, with capacity limited to not exceed 50 percent capacity indoors and 75 percent capacity outdoors;

Personal care services, including services requiring the removal of a face covering, with capacity limited to the number of people that can maintain a physical distance of two meters;

2 Men Charged for firearm and drug possession offenses in Brampton

Peel Police has charged two men in regards to firearm and drug possession offences. According to the Police, Officers from 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau conducted a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence in the area of Sandalwood Parkway and Bramalea Road in the City of Brampton. During the investigation, the Police team found a loaded .380 Colt firearm, a quantity of Canadian currency as well as a quantity of cocaine, heroin and MDMA in the residence. Derick Asiedu, a 22-year-old man from Brampton and Peter Ashu-Achare, a 26-year-old man from Brampton, was charged with the following offences:

Ontario announces COVID-19 Roadmap to Reopen

Ontario announced its Roadmap to reopen. A three-step plan to safely reopen the Province and gradually lift public health measures based on the province-wide vaccination rate and improvements in key public health and health care indicators. As per the Plan, Ontario will remain in each step for at least 21 days. The Province will move to the next step if vaccination thresholds have been met, along with positive trends in other key public health and health system indicators.  In response to recent improvements to these indicators, Ontario will allow more outdoor recreational amenities to reopen, with restrictions in place, effective May 22, 2021 at 12:01 a.m. As per information by Ontario Govt, Roadmap to Reopen outlines three steps to easing public health measures, guided by the following principles:

  • Step One: This is starting phase with an initial focus on resuming outdoor activities with smaller crowds where the risk of transmission is lower, and permitting retail with restrictions. This includes allowing outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people, outdoor dining with up to four people per table and non-essential retail at 15% capacity.
  • Step Two Further expanding outdoor activities and resuming limited indoor services with small numbers of people where face coverings are worn. This includes outdoor gatherings of up to 25 people, outdoor sports and leagues, overnight camps, personal care services where face coverings can be worn and with capacity limits, as well as indoor religious services, rites or ceremony gatherings at 15% capacity.
  • Step Three Expanding access to indoor settings, with restrictions, including where there are larger numbers of people and where face coverings can’t always be worn. This includes indoor sports and recreational fitness; indoor dining, museums, art galleries and libraries, and casinos and bingo halls, with capacity limits.

Highlights: Restrictions on outdoor recreation facilities will come to an end Saturday after first coming into effect on April 17. which means activities such as golf courses, tennis courts, skateboarding parks, sports fields, BMX and skate parks, shooting ranges and archery ranges, and horse riding will resume.
